Ashier Archive is an experimental initiative centered on the native botanical colors and ceramic materials of Qingshan Village (Yuhang, Hangzhou), extending its reach into the broader Huanghu community.
By learning from local elders and botanical experts, the project gathers wild herbs, agricultural by-products, and invasive species across the four seasons. Using the traditional "ash glaze" technique as its core methodology, the initiative transforms these botanical traces into a permanent archive of ceramic color specimens. Through a synergy of workshops, zines, and exhibitions, Ashier Archive seeks to reconnect with ancestral botanical wisdom while excavating and documenting the unique worldview tied to the local landscape.
The project aims to establish a "tangible" and enduring record of rural biodiversity, ultimately manifesting as an art and design experiment that bridges material research, ecological documentation, and community co-creation.
